We Are in This Together
IN•TACT fought 58 anti-LGBTQ+ bills in the state of Missouri this year.
After a difficult legislative cycle, we have beaten every single one.
IN•TACT's team of advocates attended every hearing and gave testimony for them all, even splitting up to cover multiple hearings happening at the same time. They wrote testimony at a moment's notice, kept up with legislation, designed our website, created a nonprofit, fought back.
Our advocates called legislators for months. We built this org "with a box of scraps in a cave" last October with the simple hope that Intersex, Nonbinary, and Trans people would not suffer in the state they call home.
We have officially been an organization since January. We only just got approved for donations the first week of May. In other words, we have worked so hard for the LGBTQIA+ community without any money to keep us afloat, and somehow we still make significant strides.
During this legislative cycle: We held a TEAch-in on the Holocaust. We had pizza and a concert for the trans community on TDOV and gathered donations for the basic needs pantry at TCP. We endorsed our first political candidate for city council. When our candidate won, we changed the city. We testified all season. When we defeated those bills, we changed our state.
This win isn’t all IN•TACT, it is every person that mobilized, called, protested, submitted testimony, and voted. The win is for everyone and we are proud to share it with you!
